The planet Sûmbarth was the first planet outside the Qaltha system colonized by the Endri-nâi, 26 years after their settlement of Alcamendra. Its greater gravity proved initially to be a challenge, as it made walking and especially flying more difficult. Grav-manip devices were used to adjust the new residents gradually, adjusting their strength in stages from Sothendran gravity to that of their new home.
Moons
Sûmbarth has two moons, Mâr and Lonta. Stations were built on these moons first, before colonization of the main planet, and both moons remain inhabited by small communities.
Demographics
The majority of those who founded the Sûmbarth settlement were of the Naugami and Kahai people. The name Sûmbarth comes from the Naugami language and means "Red Home," after the reddish color of the planet's soil.
As of the latest census, the population is 84% Naugami, 15% Kahai, and less than 1% others such as Kin-elleth.
