Dæg — Personality

General

Dæg is usually amiable and friendly, although on days when the sun isn't shining his mood likewise suffers. He shows little fear, even when walking in darkness, unless he is low on solar energy. He can be roused to wrath, however, which is a terrible thing to behold. Creatures of shadow he instinctively distrusts, and when they misbehave by spreading darkness where he feels there should be light, he can get understandably quite peeved. He is compassionate to those in need and feels it his duty to watch over those who walk through darkness. And while he does speak often of stepping out of darkness and into light, he is never judgmental or condemning toward those not openly hostile to him. Favorite foods are dried fruit and bread with honey, although he won't say no to a good steak or hearty stew if offered.

Language

Although he is fluent in the Common speech of the day, he often speaks in a more antiquated style, often using older grammatical constructions or archaic words (or words in older senses). He will sometimes speak in what to some would be a strange tongue, though others might recognize it as a form of Old English/Anglo-Saxon (he might refer to it as Ænglisc or Ealde-spræc). Usually when he does so, his voice becomes deeper and slightly more commanding, since it's often when he slips into anger (or when he speaks about terrible night-creatures) that he reverts to his mother-tongue.
