- Den (
den ) - The eldest of the family, Den is seven years older than Sonen. He is a responsible older brother, though now most of his concern is for his wife, Kisa, who is the same age as his younger sister Safi. His greatest motivation is to do right in his father's eyes. Den stands to inherit both the largest portion of his father's estate and his status as a member of the nobility. When Sonen left, the two were still hoping for children. - Reta (
reta ) - Sonen's older sister, five years his senior. Reta has been like a second mother to Sonen since they were young. She is his moral compass, in a way, for she helped guide him in how to be. She is unmarried; whenever the subject is mentioned, those in the family grow sombre and change the subject. Perhaps some past hurt that still has not healed. - Nahren (
nAren ) - Sonen's second-eldest brother, three years his senior. As a second son, he took the expected route and became a professional soldier, a commissioned officer in the royal army. His family would say that the experience has changed him. He had always been a bit of a hot-headed person, and a bit mischievous, but the army made him something altogether different. More distant, more prone to violent outbursts. More apt to drink, and to be found in morally compromising situations. He's the one they try not to talk about at family gatherings. - Safi (
safi ) - Sonen's younger sister, a year younger than him. She is a kind girl, when she wants to be, but the type that is always trying to be whatever her older sister is not. She wants to marry a rich young noble, someone of a higher family than Rin-Kodon. At her age, she's already gotten plenty of suitors, but so far as Sonen knows, she hasn't accepted any of them yet. - Káhlen (
k~Alen ) - The youngest son of the family, six years younger than Sonen. He is the typical youngest son, spoiled but always wanting more attention. But he's good at heart, and also learned a lot of his moral lessons from Reta. He still hasn't decided whether he wants to go to the army, like Nahren, or the University, like Sonen.
