Overview

The Kra-Garr are natives of Garr, a planet considered by most to be nearly uninhabitable, being largely covered by vast deserts. The Garrians are well-adapted to their environment, though even they prefer to stay out of the sun during the heat of the day. Although the various nations of Garr have legitimate governments, in theory elected by the people, it is something of an open secret that the majority of the planet is run by several networks of organized crime syndicates, who run their gladiatorial combat arenas. The Garrians have colonized their own moon, as well as several other moons in their solar system.
One notable feature about the Garrians is that they – like the endri-nâi – have a very strong hospitality culture (though the extent of this may vary by geographical region), particularly in the area of the washing of clothes. Even prisoners are treated with the respect of having their clothes washed. They are known to use the desert plant called mongg for multiple purposes, both for its aromatic and healing properties.
Garrians typically have either brown, black, or red hair, and skin tones range from light sand to a dark muddy brown. They are easily identified by their rough skin, which gives them the appearance of having been carved out of stone. Their clothing is typically light-colored and loose, covering as much of the body as practicable.

The exceptions to this rule are gladiators, who typically wear much less clothing as part of the spectacle. New gladiators are given only minimal attire and gear for their first fight, and must earn the right to wear more armor and carry better weapons as they accumulate wins.
After the Illanian-Endrith War and the dissolution of the Illanian Star Empire, Garr became politically unstable. It was during this time that the crime syndicates took control of most of Garr. When the Illianian Republic was formed, several Garrian groups opposed joining, preferring to leave and found colonies on the Rel-danii planets of Legarna and Lorra. Several moons within the Garr system are likewise aligned politically with the Rel-danii Alliance rather than the Republic.
The planet of Rell-Garr (New Garr), settled by Garrians escaping Illanian occupation during the days of the Empire, declined to join the Republic and has not yet (officially) joined an other federation of planets. Some areas of the planet are more sympathetic to the Republic, some favor the Alliance, and others prefer independence. Some have even proposed seeking affiliation with the Endri-nâi Confederation. Rell-Garr is also home to the Buarrians, relatives of the Cantarrians, and the two peoples have a nominal peace.
