Rel-danii Alliance of Planets
The Rel-danii Alliance of Planets is an interstellar political organization, made up mostly of Rel-danii-controlled planets.
Overview
The Rel-danii Alliance of Planets is a loose confederation of worlds all colonized by the Rel-danii people, as well as a few outposts and moons. They have peaceful diplomatic relations with the Endri-nâi Confederation and the Illanian Star Republic, at present.
The Alliance is headquartered at the Rel-danii homeworld of Parrau (also called Dan). Other planets in the Alliance include Dan-Galim (New Dan), Lorra, Rantika, Legarna, and Eikh-Sami.
The planet Lorra is of particular importance in the wider galactic community. While the Alliance remained neutral during the Endri-Illanian War, the government of Lorra made a proclamation that any refugees who made their way to their planet would be welcomed. This declaration was made shortly after the Illanian invasion and annexation of Cantarr. During the war, numerous small groups of refugees – Cantarrians, Garrians, Kaxxai, Buarrians, and others – managed to find shelter on Lorra. After the war, as worlds formerly part of the Illanian Star Empire were invited to join the supposedly reformed Republic, those groups who disagreed with their worlds' decisions to join the Republic also emigrated to Lorra and the nearby planet Legarna. Planet Lorra is even home to a small community of trælau who, though nominally still under the protection of the Endri-nâi Confederation, have adopted some Rel-danii customs and are also held to be citizens of the Alliance.
Insignia
The insignia of the Rel-danii Alliance of Planets contains a gold shield upon which is the Dán, a traditional symbol of the planet Dan/Parrau. Eight triangles at the top represent the entirety of Alliance members (Since the Danek language uses a base-eight counting system, the number eight is often used to symbolize completion or totality. The symbols near the bottom represent two figures grasping hands in cooperation.
The Illanu-Dan War
For the first seventy years after the formation of the Illanian Star Republic, there was peaceful trade and coexistence with the Alliance. However, when Illanian pirates attacked Rel-danii space stations near Rantika, tensions rose once again. Alliance leadership called upon Illanian High Minister Thalli Hrillau and the Council of the Wise to extradite the perpetrators for trial, but they refused. After a few more skirmishes back and forth (for which there was plausible deniability on both sides), war was declared, lasting for the next two years.
Because of the danger posed to the newly-established traeli-nâi colony on Lorra, a delegation of Endri-nâi from Relpendra and Sûmbarth called Alliance and Republic leaders to a peace summit, where an armistice was signed. Since then, relations with the Illanians have improved, but not fully healed.
