Illanian Star Republic
The Illanian Star Republic is an interstellar political organization, headquartered on the planet Illanu. It is the successor organization to the now-defunct Illanian Star Empire.
Overview
The Illanian Star Republic was established some 135 years ago, after the end of the brutal Illanian-Endrith War, in which the former Illanian Star Empire was defeated and its resources nearly depleted. Since that time, it has regained much of the economic and military power it had prior to the war.
Prior to the Illanian-Endrith war, the Empire controlled over a dozen planets and held the Garrians, Kaxxai, Cantarrians, and other peoples under their power. While the Illanians still have a controlling interest in the Republic's affairs (and military strength), the other races have been granted full rights and equal status. Other species, such as the Camaitiiru, have since joined the Republic.
While the Republic has friendly relations with the Rel-danii Alliance of Planets, their peace is fragile at best.
Insignia
The insignia of the Illanian Star Republic displays a representation of solar sails, with a portion of a yellow star behind them, below which is an Illanian symbol signifying different groups working together.

Early Joiners
The first non-Illanians to join the Republic were the people of Garr. The power vacuum left by the sudden withdrawal of Illanian troops had destabilized the planet's governments, leading to a global seven-year war. When the war ended, the various governments put forth a proposal to join the Republic.[1] While many Garrians opposed the idea – preferring to leave for Rell-Garr and even to some Rel-danii Alliance worlds instead – the remaining majority voted to join the Republic. Planet Kax followed them, two years later, and after another seven years Cantarr and the majority of Cantarrians also joined the Republic.
Border Disputes
The peace would not last more than a few decades, however, before a new conflict threatened the fledgling Republic. Border disputes with the Rel-danii Alliance of Planets led to a brief war, after which a mutual armistice – mediated by a party of Endri-nâi – was signed.
Recent History
The latest planet to join the Republic is Charan, home of the Camaitiiru. A delegation of Camaitiiru arrived on Illanu eighty-eight years after the end of the Endri-Illanian War, and the following year Charan (and nominally its colony worlds and moons) became the Republic's newest members.

- ↑ Some have suggested that support for Garr's joining the Republic was generated in haste by world leaders, fearing that the crime syndicates would soon take over and displace them. Others propose instead that it was the crime syndicates who were in favor of joining, having been promised by unnamed Councilors that their operations would receive latitude.
